Srinagar, April 25 : The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir wing (CIK) on Saturday carried out a raid at the Central Jail in J&Kâ??s Srinagar in connection with a terror-related case.

Officials said that CIK sleuths conducted searches at Central Jail Srinagar in connection with a terror-linked case and seized digital communication devices.

officials added that the searches were carried out following a warrant issued by a special court designated under the NIA Act in a case registered as FIR No 06/2023 at Police Station CI Kashmir.

He said the case was registered under Sections 153-A, 505, 121, and 120-B of the IPC, along with Sections 13 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

â??Acting on technical inputs about the presence of suspicious digital signatures inside the jail premises, search operations were conducted across multiple barracks and blocks in coordination with jail authorities,â?? an official said.

The official said that during the operation, digital communication devices and other incriminating material were recovered and seized.

The seized devices will be sent for forensic examination to establish possible links and identify any wider network connected with the case, he said, adding that an inquiry has also been initiated into how the devices were brought inside the high-security prison and the role of any facilitators involved.

The official said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb misuse of communication devices in sensitive establishments, including prisons, and to investigate terror-related activities in the Union Territory. The Counter-Intelligence is a part of the J&K criminal investigation case (CID) of the police and is assigned counter-intelligence duties.

The wing has worked with appreciable results for many years in countering the designs of the enemy and unearthing plots aimed against the sovereignty and integrity of the country. The wing also carries out focused verification of individuals suspected of having terror links.
